Welcome!
The fact that you are here reading this means that you deserve a big “Way to go!”, because emcomm is an important part of our club and our hobby. In fact, as you probably already know, it is part of the reason that amateur radio exists and enables Hams to use parts of the very valuable radio spectrum. The FCC Part 97 Rules and Regulations states:
—–
§97.1 Basis and purpose.
The rules and regulations in this Part are designed to provide an amateur radio service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following principles:
(a) Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications.
—–
There is a lot more to it than that (see all of Part 97), but this is the first thing mentioned.
This page contains information and resources related to our club’s efforts in emergency communications. Use the menu items to the left, under EmComm to see more.
Emergency Preparedness Fair CARS participated in the Emergency Preparedness fair on Saturday, October 13, 2008 at the LDS church in Murphys. We were well represented by club members and equipment. Public turnout was light, but enthusiastic. It was a good outreach to the community as the club demonstrated to many members of the public our capabilities. |
Fire Season! WS6P got a close look at CalFire operations, as the Smitty Fire came very close to his property. See more of Sam’s pictures. |
