September was a very busy month. Now October is going to be just as
involved with all the good things Amateur Radio.

The Centennial QSO Party continues and I enjoy the Red Badge contacts.
It is great to see the enthusiasm and camaraderie.

Pacificon is less than a week away and will sport W100AW/6 and the
final regional Centennial Convention. We are so lucky to see the 100
years come to fruition. All the interactions with Scouting, Do it
Yourself (Maker Fairs) projects, scholarships and Public Service.

Scouting is a great way to introduce Ham Radio to the youth. Make sure
you are on the air October 18-19, 2014. Better yet, work with a local
troop and get them on the air! Great fun.

Our own “Rally in the Valley” was a very pleasant 1-day event. It
was very educational, drawings and practical demonstrations. Even the
Bakersfield Salvation Army communications vehicle was on display.
Plans are already in the works for next year.

Remember to support HR4969 and get your letter to ARRL and your
Congressional Representative. Go to the link on the ARRL website
http://www.arrl.org/hr-4969 .

See you at Pacificon! Don't forget the SET exercise, Great Shake Out
and JOTA!
