Hello Central Valley,
One quarter of the year is gone and the weather is still with us. I
have replaced the coax on my VHF/UHF antenna. Still need to put up a
new HF antenna I constructed. I have plenty of projects to push toward
completion. Seems I have a lot of home projects and “She who must be
obeyed” has a list of requests. Where is the end?
I do know there are public service events that are on everyone’s
agenda. As I read the newsletters, I see they are universal. It is
good practice and good Public Relations. Keep up the good work. We
need to perfect our craft and excel at keeping the events as safe as
possible.
Mind the new laws and support the Parity Act. Be recognized by those
in responsible positions in your respective counties. If you have a
cabinet position, be forthcoming with your monthly reports.
Remember to support “The Amateur Radio Parity Act”. Go to the link
on the ARRL website http://www.arrl.org/amateur-radio-parity-act. We
have to continue the support for this registration.
Also put your 2 cents in to repeal or amend AB1785.

CLUBS
CLOVIS ARP ++ Clovis Club organized in conjunction with Fresno
ARES/RACES/SATERN to offer communications for the Blossom Trail and
California Classic lead by Rob, AE6GE. Rick W6KKO supervised the
by-monthly Fox Hunt. Field Day and the Climb to Kaiser will be done
simultaneously, at Pineridge school. www.k6arp.org/
FRESNO ARC++ Ramrodded by Joe WA6FFJ, the club discussed many
topics, The news letter’s hi-lite offered a 100KC. Project. A recap
of the Fox-Hunt was explained and the support for the March of Dimes was
detailed.. www.w6to.com.
SEQUOIA ARG ++ April 08, 2017. Was our Weldon Annual Pot Luck and
Swap Meet, says Al N6ALP. www.n6krv.org
STOCKTON DELTA ARC ++ I encourage everyone this month to check into a
net – maybe while relaxing on the patio or porch and using your HT
or Go-Box. W6SF Monday ; SARA Tuesday; Tracy and Lodi both are on
Wednesday nights; W6SF 10-Meter net on Thursday; Space Net on
Friday’s on the SARA repeater, just to name a few. Don’t forget to
check into the noon-time net on 40M. On Saturday there are several HF
nets.
With all the things we do, it’s easy to push radio to the back of the
list until suddenly you haven’t been heard on the air for quite a
while. So take a few minutes this month and check into a few nets –
you’ll be glad you did and the nets will be better for the added
participation. W6SFM, The SFM ARC would like to announce that we will
once again be running our CW beginners course in Sacramento. ACES
training considered a success. www.w6sf.org
TURLOCK ARC ++ It’s broke! The March ARCOVER describes and shows
the damage to the W6BXN repeater site. It depicts a disaster zone akin
to a cruse missile impact. Repairs to the installation took 4 hams and
8 hours and is eloquently reported by Grady K6IXA.
Caronell Majors was memorialized by Grady on her passing.
Dick Decker, K6SUU will be coordinating communications for the Turlock
Chaplaincy Run.
The 11 April program was provided by Grady, K6IXA. Several years ago,
1997 the existing HF ham station became almost exclusive dedicated to
Winlink Pactor radio email. With three stations on 40, 30 and 20
meters, operation on 40 meters and above was out of the question. A HF
station with decent antennas requires more space than is on a city lot.
Chuck Mancebo W6GAM came to the rescue offering ten acres. We ended up
with a Remote Station, software designed by W4MQ and was accessible via
the internet anywhere in the world. In fact when Chuck and I were in
Thailand we were able to check into the Modesto commuter net run by
Mark WB6BJN.
The following Amateur became a Silent Key since the last report:
Ron K6OQ, Diane KD6UCX, Marcell K6YTK, Scot AG6IS and Greg W6CNJ.
.They will be missed.
